Most occupations require that those who work in it have certain abilities that allow them to do their jobs. For example, photographers must understand how different camera settings and lighting affect the pictures they take; Computer programmers need to know how to use programming languages. These abilities are known as hard or technical skills, which can be acquired by enrolling into any of the relevant educational program.

Up until now educational qualification was enough, but in contemporary times, besides having a superb degree, one also needs to have an extraordinary personality and soft skills.

Soft Skills are the skills, abilities and Traits that pertain to personality, attitude and behaviour. The following diagram depicts the different components of soft skills:

Communication skills are essential in all spheres of life. Be it an interview or dealing with the project leader or working out a solution with a team or writing a report, getting across the point effectively is what matters. This is the reason why most employers seek to appoint people with good communication skills.

To explain the students the professional way of drafting the Business Emails, Applications, reports, etc

Importance

Almost all business activities are envisioned, planned, implemented and analyzed in some form of the written word. These forms include reports, ,letters, memos, email,, etc. So, it is imperative for a student to acquire the professional writing skills before s/he begins his/her corporate journey. This will ensure that they write in clear and concise manner which will reduce the risk of miscommunication.

This module will guide the students about Making presentations, using audio-visual aids and delivering it to the audience with confidence and composure.

A presentation is a means of communication which can be adapted to various speaking situations, such as talking to a group, addressing a meeting or briefing a team. Today, presentation skills are required in almost every field.Whether you are a student, administrator, executive, or if you wish to start up your own business, you may very well be asked to make a presentation.

This module will help the students understand the nitty-gritty of Human Relations and generate positive energy around them.

Interpersonal skills are the abilities of an individual to get along well with other members of group or society. It can also be defined as the skills involved in understanding the relations between the people.

Interpersonal skills lead to good rapport and better human relations which give rise to favourable work climate in any organisation. It promotes productivity and performance of the individual and the group.

Objective

To understand few basic Corporate etiquettes in order to create a positive impression and also to become a successful professional.

Importance

Corporate etiquette is an essential ingredient of soft skill. When a person gets into the employment for the first time, s/he often get confused with the corporate culture. There will be vast cultural gaps between the background of the individual and that of the organisation s/he enters. The person finds it very difficult to get along with the new customs, norms and rules. So, it is important that the a student learns the basics of the corporate etiquette before s/he get into the corporate world. This includes – Hand Shakes, Mobile Etiquettes, Telephone Etiquettes, Dressing Etiquettes, Business Card Etiquettes, Dining etiquettes, etc

To understand the different aspects of one’s body language to improve the overall communication skill.

Importance

Body language is a major constituent of our Non-verbal communications. It is combination of Facial Expressions, Eye Movement, Hand gestures, Body Posture. The verbal communication should always be supported by proper body language else it will create credibility crisis. For example, when you are talking to someone about your achievements and if you do not maintain proper eye contact, the other person may get the feeling that you are not speaking the truth.
